... be here!

AFSPA will be in Albuquerque,  16 -18 October 2008. For many of you who spent some time at "The Ranch" this is a familiar scene but it never grows old. If you have not seen a mass balloon ascension, this is an opportunity you will not wnat to miss.

2008 AFSPA Conference

The Pete Magwood Chapter in Albuquerque, NM (Chapter Charter #1 in AFSPA), extends a warm invitation to one and all to attend the 2008 AFSPA Conference in the "Land of Enchantment," October 16-18, 2008. Our theme is "Albuquerque is Great in 2008."

A special and unique attraction will be our annual Hot Air Balloon Fiesta, which will be held October 4-12, 2008. It is the largest such event in the world, with early weekend morning mass ascensions of 700-1000 balloons. It is credited as being the most photographed single day event. It is a "must see." We strongly recommend those interested to plan on arriving in town on Oct. 10 to best ensure they may attend mass ascension on either the 11th or 12th, allowing for the possibility of weather canceling the 11th. That also allows a few days to shop and sightsee before the conference begins.

The Albuquerque Marriott, 2101 Louisiana Boulevard at the intersection with Interstate 40, has extended our special room rate of $99 up to one week pre- and post-conference (based on availability). This is an excellent rate for this time of year and we urge you to make reservations early, as hotels fill up many months in advance of the Fiesta. Telephone number: 1-800-334-2086. Mention "Air Force Security Police Association" as your reservation group. You may register online at: www.Marriott.com/abqnm and place in group code SPASPAA.

We plan to have links or a section established on the AFSPA web site to provide you more extensive and detailed information for planning your visit. You can help plan your trip and order a free "Official Albuquerque Visitors Guide and Vacation Planner" call 1-800-284-2282.Watch for more details in future issues of Tiger Flight.

Looking forward to seeing y'all here in 2008!

First Annual Cops of Clark Air Base Reunion

The first annual meeting of the Cops of Clark Air Base and any other location in the Philippines will be 18-25 August 2008. It will be an informal affair based at the Fremont Hotel and Casino, Las Vegas, Nevada.  If you ever served and wore a badge in the Philippines, you are welcome. This is a non-formal gathering, just a chance to reconnect and get reacquainted or meet some of your fellow cops that served in the PI at different times.

The only organized function will be a group dinner at a local Filipino restaurant one evening. We are arranging a hospitality room at the Fremont where people can sit down and relax and chat. If you would like to attend, please e-mail Larry Ryan at ryan.larry@comcast.net.

The room rates will be less than the standard $47.50 per night. We look forward to seeing everyone. This may turn into a regular event, hopefully to coincide with the AFSPA Annual Meeting.

Come meet your fellow cops. All ranks are gone when we gather.
